With the onset of climate change, a number of serious implications are expected to bring impacts including rise in sea levels, rise in sea temperature causing the melting ice in the North Pole, increase in air temperature, increase in rainfall, increase in evaporation, and increase in the occurrence of tropical storms. Further, climate change is claimed by climate scientists as the cause of various natural disasters such as severe floods, major landslides, prolonged droughts, massive forest fires, the sinking of small islands, and so forth
This situation will create not only in individual level but also increase national public understanding of a global environmental issue. Today, media has become the best tool in making people understand about climate change.
Through the use of internet, online technologies offer new ways for knowledge sharing and allows public to engage with climate-change discourse. Television is the most popular media among Cameroonians and Africans to know about climate change. Television as well as other media like films, newspapers, and magazines contribute to information about climate change for students and the public.
Studies have found that the public learns a large amount about science through consuming mass media news.
